General Lee For Auction in Toronto

Dukes of HazzardEver since I was a child I’ve wanted to own a 1968 Dodge Charger just like the one Bo and Luke Duke drove in the hit television show The Dukes of Hazzard. And now I have a chance to get an actual “General Lee” (as the car was called in the show) for the first time in Toronto.

The annual spring Classic Car Auction of Toronto will feature one of the cars that was used in the 2005 movie adaptation of The Dukes of Hazzard starring Johnny Knoxville, Seann William Scott, Jessica Simpson, and Burt Reynolds. According to the press release this is the only car to “survive three separate jumps during filming and one of the few sold by the movie studio following production.”

More about the car for auction:

For the film this heavily modified, driverless vehicle, known as a ‘sling’ car, was launched via a powerful catapult system similar to those used on aircraft carriers. Off screen, this “General Lee” stunt double (stunt car #11) suffered the consequences of its extreme stunts making for an interesting restoration project or museum display.

The spring Classic Car Auction of Toronto runs April 9, 10, and 11 at the International Centre in Mississauga. For more information visit ccpauctions.com. Good luck to anyone bidding.
