TRAILER: Hubble 3D

Narrated by Leonardo DiCaprio, Hubble 3D follows the crew of the Space Shuttle Atlantis during a mission they went on in May 2009 to repair and upgrade the Hubble Space Telescope — 350 miles above Earth! To document their voyage they brought an IMAX 3D camera with them which was controlled by the astronauts on board the shuttle. They filmed the five space walks it took for the mission and also got close-up shots of the shuttle’s mechanical arm trying to grasp the telescope while it orbits at 17,500 mph. This is something NASA has never captured on film before.

Combining the IMAX 3D footage they took with images from the telescope over the last 20 years, Hubble 3D looks to be one very cool and amazing visual experience. The scenes in the trailer (after the jump) are breathtaking.
