Dennis Hopper Tribute at the Toronto Underground Cinema

To honour film icon Dennis Hopper, who passed away on May 29 at the age of 74, the Toronto Underground Cinema is running a tribute to Hopper by playing select films of his on the big screen.

The tribute continues this Friday with Kevin Costner’s 1995 futuristic epic Waterworld at 6:45 p.m. and then switches gears to the 1986 cult favourite The Texas Chainsaw Massacre 2 at 9:15 p.m. On Saturday Easy Rider, Hopper’s best film in my opinion, screens at 7 p.m. followed by Speed at 9 p.m. Easy Rider plays again on Sunday at 4 p.m. along with David Lynch’s Blue Velvet at 9 p.m. Speed returns on Monday at 7 p.m. and closes the series.

I give the team at TUC credit for putting this series together and remembering Hopper for his contribution to the world of film. Now only if they had made time for the Super Mario Bros. movie.
