The National Film Board of Canada (NFB) released their fancy (and free) new iPad app today. With over 1000 documentaries, animated shorts, and trailers being streamed (with the option to download and store locally for 48 hours), and some content available in both high-definition and 3-D, this is going to be the app that could make a lot of Canadians run out and buy an iPad.
Other features within the app include the ability to bookmark videos, browse related content using split-screen technology while watching a film, search and browse films by category and title, and access a channel for kids with educational content.
The NFB’s iPhone app was a huge hit when it was released last fall and was selected as one of the Best Apps of 2009 by iTunes Canada. It also got props from The Apple Blog for Best Use of Content.
Download the NFB iPad app in the iTunes store or directly from the NFB download page.
