The Directors Guild of Canada announced the nominees for the 2010 DGC Awards today and Atom Egoyan’s Chloe (pictured), Jacob Tierney’s The Trotsky, Ruba Nadda’s Cairo Time, and John N. Smith’s Love & Savagery are competing for Best Feature Film. Nominated for the coveted Best Director award are Penelope Buitenhuis for A Wake, Atom Egoyan for Chloe, George Mihalka for Faith, Fraud & Minimum Wage, and Reginald Harkema for Leslie, My Name is Evil.
Nominations for television spread over four categories (Best Drama, Best Comedy, Best Family, and Best Mini-Series/TV Movie) and include Keep Your Head Up Kid: The Don Cherry Story, Flashpoint, Being Erica, Sanctuary, Less Than Kind, G-Spot, Little Mosque on the Prairie, and Degrassi: The Next Generation. Sidney Furie will be receiving the Lifetime Achievement Award and Don McCutcheon will be receiving the Don Haldane Distinguished Service Award.
