NFB Mediatheque Showcases the Best Animation and the Best Short Films


The NFB Mediatheque has two great events planned this month that should please both animation geeks and short film lovers alike.

On Thursday, July 15 at 7 p.m. the Best of the 2009 Ottawa International Animation Festival (the largest animation festival in North America) will be featured. Co-presented by the Toronto Animated Image Society the evening has a stellar line-up of some the greatest work from around the world including Lei Lei's Magic Cube and Ping-Pong (China), Diego Maclean's The Art of Drowning (Canada), and Bastien Dubois's Madagascar, A Journey Diary (Madagascar, carnet de voyage) (France). Tickets are $4 for students, seniors, and Front Row passholders, and $6 for everyone else. For more information, click here.

The Mediatheque will also be working with the CFC Worldwide Short Film Festival to present the top short-form content from this year's Short Film Festival on Wednesday, July 21 at 7 p.m. Films shown will include Chelsea McMullan's Slip (Canada), Joanna Lurie's The Silence Beneath the Bark (France), and Jarosław Sztandera's Luxury (Poland). Tickets are $4 for students, seniors, and Front Row passholders, and $6 for everyone else. For more information, click here.
