While most critics scoffed at Prince of Persia: The Sands of Time when it hit theatres earlier this year, I found it to be a fun, action-packed adventure reminiscent of the Indiana Jones films. Starring Jake Gyllenhaal as Dastan, an orphan who was adopted into royalty and now must try to save the world, the film has enough witty dialogue, sword fighting, and decent special effects to make it worthwhile viewing. It also stars the lovely Gemma Arterton and always awesome Sir Ben Kingsley, and is directed by Mike Newell (Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire).
Blu-ray is the way to go for this title as it shows off the excellent picture and sound, and also includes a regular DVD and digital copy of the movie. Special features on the Blu-ray disc include a deleted scene and CineExplore functionality, which allows you to watch behind-the-scenes footage and making-of featurettes as the movie plays. There is also a making-of featurette included on the regular DVD disc as well. Film *** Blu-ray **** out of 5 stars.
