Audio Interview With ‘Cactus’ Director Jasmine Yuen Carrucan

Cactus, the story of a man who is hired to kidnap someone and then goes on a wild journey in the Australian outback with the hostage, is Jasmine Yuen Carrucan‘s first film as writer and director. But Carrucan has cut her teeth in the movies for many years, working in the camera department on big name films like Kill Bill Vol. 1 and Vol. 2, The Last Samurai, and Deepa Mehta’s Water. She must have learned a thing or two along the way, as Cactus is an intense ride with stellar performances by Bryan Brown, Travis McMahon, and David Lyons, and it had me completely hooked from beginning to end.

Criticize This! spoke with Carrucan about the how Cactus came to be, her career, and how it is working in the Australian film industry. Listen to our audio interview below (8:12 in length).

Cactus is available on DVD February 15.
