Walt Disney Studios Canada is set to run a two-minute combo sneak peek of their upcoming films Cars 2 and I Am Number Four during the Super Bowl XLV pre-show this Sunday, along with a two-minute preview of Pirates of the Caribbean: On Stranger Tides that airs right before the big game at 5:58 EST.
Why is this news? For starters, Canadians don’t get to see the cool Super Bowl ads Americans get due to our broadcast rules. This makes us angry and leaves us waiting until they appear online the next day to see what we missed. In this case, Disney is actually going to run a minute and a half more footage of On Stranger Tides than our friends South of the border will see. That sort of makes up for the lack of cool Pepsi and Doritos commercials we’ll be missing out on.
Super Bowl XLV is broadcast in Canada on CTV. The pre-show kicks off at 2 p.m. EST with the game starting at 6 p.m. EST.
I Am Number is in theatres February 18, Pirates of the Caribbean: On Stranger Tides is in theatres May 20, and Cars 2 is in theatres June 24.
