Vancouver’s Rio Theatre hosting ‘An Evening with the Quaids’ this coming Friday

An Evening with the QuaidsJust when you thought Charlie Sheen had stolen all the headlines for his bizarre behaviour recently, Randy and Evi Quaid pop back up with their conspiracy theories about a group of assassins trying to kill them. This time they come armed with a docu-drama about the subject, appropriately titled Star Whackers.

Directed by Evi and starring Randy in three different roles, the film sets out to expose this group of people who supposedly hunt and kill Hollywood stars because they are worth more in ad revenue on the Internet dead than alive.

More about the film:

There is a plague upon the Hollywood star system since 1995: movie stars are worth more dead than alive due to lucrative ad revenue on the Internet. Randy Quaid has been targeted, and left heartbroken & abandoned. Assassins plot his demise and hunt him so to appropriate for themselves his value as a movie star.

Evi, who is credited as a visual artist, also released this comment about the film:

“This is a work in progress and highly experimental with nudity, adult language & content through out. For the first time I would like an audience reaction to my art as a work in progress, so I may understand its content through other eyes.”

Star Whackers screens at the Rio Theatre in Vancouver on Friday, April 22 along with the Canadian drama Real Time, starring Randy and Jay Baruchel. The Quaids will be doing a Q&A after the screening, and Randy and his band The Fugitives will perform as well. Should make for an interesting night.

Tickets to An Evening with the Quaids are $20 in advance and $25 at the door. For more information, visit riotheatre.ca.
