Looking to get out of the heat on Canada Day without spending any money? Then why not head over to the TIFF Bell Lightbox and catch some great Canadian films for FREE!
The day starts at 11 a.m. with a screening of Mary Pickford, The Muse of the Movies, a documentary on the legendary Canadian actress who opened the door and set the bar for future Hollywood starlets to come.
At 1:30 p.m. classic Canadian short films play, including Log Driver’s Waltz, The Cat Came Back, The Sweater, and The Big Snit.
The evening programming kicks off at 4 p.m. with Jean-Marc Vallée’s 2005 Montreal-based comedy-drama C.R.A.Z.Y, followed by the “lost” experimental film Voulez-vous coucher avec God? at 7:30 p.m [more on that here].
Closing out the day is Bob Clark’s 1974 classic slasher flick Black Christmas, starring Margot Kidder, John Saxon, and Andrea Martin.
