Limitless Criticize This! Pick of the Week – The idea behind Limitless is quite awesome: what if a pill could open your mind to allow you to do anything you wanted? Like, say, finish your novel or learn how to game the stock market and become a millionaire. Would you take it? Now what if you could do all those things but if you stopped taking the drug it would kill you? Quite the catch-22 isn’t it? Directed by Neil Burger and based on Alan Glynn’s novel, Limitless tells this story with such a haunting coolness it will stay with you for days after watching it. Bradley Cooper and Robert De Niro star. Special features include an alternate ending, director commentary, deleted scenes, and more. Film **** DVD *** (out of 5 stars).

Arthur (Blu-ray) – When I heard they were remaking the 1981 comedy Arthur, I thought “Oh great, another useless remake.” Sure enough, the end result is a useless remake. Russell Brand takes a crack at the out-of-control rich brat who is cutoff from his inheritance if he doesn’t marry a snobby rich girl who he hates (played by Jennifer Garner). Although I love Brand, he’s no Dudley Moore, and the jokes here are few and far between. Helen Mirren and Greta Gerwig help bring some life to the film, but overall it’s not worth wasting two hours on. The Blu-ray is decent quality but not required viewing for this film. Special features include behind the scenes footage, a gag reel, additional scenes, and more. A regular DVD and digital copy of the film are included as well. Film ** Blu-ray ** (out of 5 stars).
