Hobo With a Shotgun Criticize This! Pick of the Week – Rutger Hauer stars as a homeless man on the out-of-control streets of “Fuck Town” who decides to get himself a shotgun and clean the scum up after he’s pushed to the brink. An endless romp of gruesome violence, wicked dialogue, and buckets of blood ensue. (Think Class of Nuke Em’ High, The Toxic Avenger, or any other Troma release for that matter, mixed with the grittiness of Mad Max). Based on a fake trailer that ran in the Canadian release of Grindhouse, Hobo With a Shotgun could be the most wild movie ever made in the Great White North and has definitely put writer-director Jason Eisener on the map to becoming a legend. Special features on the DVD include audio commentary, deleted scenes, an alternate ending, the original fake trailer, a very cool case, and more. Film **** DVD **** (out of 5 stars).

NOTE: We incorrectly ran the following review of The Company Men in our New On DVD article last week. It in fact is being released in Canada this week.

The Company Men (Blu-ray) – I’ve never suffered such a great panic attack watching a movie as I did while watching The Company Men. A movie about people being laid off, not finding work, and the consequences it brings on them is too hard to watch in this day and age. The same reasons it gave me anxiety is exactly what makes it work so well though, and the powerful realistic angle to the story is a wake-up call as to what really matters in life, and how your job should not define you. Ben Affleck, Tommy Lee Jones, Chris Cooper, Craig T. Nelson, Kevin Costner, and Rosemarie DeWitt star. The Blu-ray sports a nice image and sound mix, but is not required to get the most out of this movie. Special features include interviews with cast and crew, behind the scenes footage, and the theatrical trailer for the film. Film **** Blu-ray *** (out of 5 stars).
