What has Steven Spielberg done with Martin Scorsese? That was my first thought after watching the trailer for Hugo, Scorsese’s upcoming fantasy film based on Brian Selznick’s novel. Although the cast includes Jude Law, Chloe Moretz, Sacha Baron Cohen, and Ben Kingsley, it looks uninspired and could be one of many films to grace this genre over the last 10 years (the poster reminds me a lot of The Golden Compass). And Scorsese is embracing 3-D!? Is the world coming to an end? Are we going to see Raging Bull rereleased in 3-D soon?
