Another Earth is hands down one of my favourite films of the year so far. From the raw beauty of Mike Cahill’s direction, to the amazing score and Oscar-worthy performance from actress Brit Marling, the film has left a major impression on me and I have not been able to stop pondering it since seeing it a few weeks back. Out of the entire movie though, the scene below is by far my favourite. Without spoiling anything, it comes at a turning point in the movie and shows just how perfect Marling handles this character. Check it out and let us know your thoughts in the comments.
About Another Earth:
Rhoda Williams, a bright young woman accepted into MIT’s astrophysics program, aspires to explore the cosmos. A brilliant composer, John Burroughs, has just reached the pinnacle of his profession and is about to have a second child with his loving wife. On the eve of the discovery of a duplicate Earth, tragedy strikes and the lives of these strangers become irrevocably intertwined. Estranged from the world and the selves they once knew, the two outsiders begin an unlikely love affair and reawaken to life. But when one is presented with the chance of a lifetime opportunity to travel to the other Earth and embrace an alternative reality, which new life will they choose?
Another Earth opens in Toronto on July 29, Vancouver on August 5, Calgary and Edmonton on August 12, Ottawa and Victoria on August 19, and Halifax and Winnipeg on August 26.
