Win Win (Blu-ray) Criticize This! Pick of the WeekWin Win is the third feature from writer-director Tom McCarthy, and like his previous films The Station Agent and The Visitor, it combines solid writing and direction with brilliant performances. When struggling lawyer and part-time wrestling coach Mike Flaherty (Paul Giamatti) attempts to scam one of his elderly clients for some extra income, he ends up having to take in the client’s teenage grandson (newcomer Alex Shaffer). At a loss of what to do about the situation, Mike soon discovers the kid can wrestle and the two form a strong bond. Along with a great supporting cast that includes Amy Ryan, Bobby Cannavale, Jeffrey Tambor, and Melanie Lynskey, Win Win is by far one of the best films of the year. Special features on the Blu-ray release include deleted scenes, interviews, a music video, and more. Film **** Blu-ray **** (out of 5 stars).

Top Gun (Blu-ray) – It’s Top Gun. On Blu-ray. You either love the action-packed ’80s Tom Cruise jet fighter flick or you hate it. Either way, it’s the 25th anniversary release and Maverick (Cruise), Goose (Anthony Edwards), and Ice Man (Val Kilmer) all look great in high definition. The DTS-HD 6.1 surround sound mix is what will really blow your mind though, especially during the action scenes, and will make you forget about that crappy regular DVD copy you probably have kicking around somewhere. Special features include the 2-hour plus documentary Danger Zone: The Making of Top Gun, music videos, a behind-the-scenes featurette, and more. A digital copy of the film is also included. Film **** Blu-ray **** (out of 5 stars).

90210: The Third Season – After suffering through season two of 90210 I had had enough of it. But for some strange reason I decided to give season three a shot. Bad idea. I couldn’t last more than eight episodes it has become so dreadful to watch. I have now officially given up on this series and will not be tuning in for season four come September. Special features include cast and crew commentaries on select episodes, behind-the-scenes footage, deleted scenes, and more. Season 3 * DVD ** (out of 5 stars).
