The award-winning documentary Last Train Home will air on PBS September 27 before being made available to watch online at pbs.org between September 28 and October 27.
Directed by Montreal-based filmmaker Lixin Fan, the film looks at the agonizing trek some 130 million migrant workers in China take each year to get back home in order to celebrate Chinese New Year with their families. It’s an eye-opening portrait of a life most of us in North America would never be able to grasp, and Fan is not afraid to play with the viewers’ emotions with what he puts on screen.
For viewers who wish to discuss the film with Fan, he will also be taking part in a live online chat on September 28 at 1 p.m. ET.
