This is a recap of the seventh episode of Terra Nova, entitled Nightfall. Spoilers ahead if you have not seen it!

What started as a nice relaxing Saturday afternoon in the Shannon household turned into a mega stressful day. Maddy and her almost boyfriend, Mark, went out on a secret date. Zoe and Jim had a Daddy-daughter date. And Josh and Liz had to work.

Everyone’s plans are ruined when a meteor knocks out all the power in Terra Nova. No weapons, no power to any equipment and most importantly, no perimeter defense to keep put the nasty local wildlife.

Meanwhile, there are injuries to the Terra Nova civilians pouring into the medical lab and Liz can’t treat them because all her equipment runs on power. This includes Hunter, Skye’s friend, who has picked up a parasite by drinking from an unfermented root. Poor Liz has to resort to the old-fashioned scalpel to remove it. Talk about a hard day at the office.

Zoe and Jim are stuck in a room where they were checking out the liquid memory core, which is kinda like a giant computer library. The only way to open the door is for Zoe to crawl through an access vent. But she’s scared of spiders so Jim makes up a “scare away” spider song. I couldn’t stop laughing at how painful this made up song is. Especially at Jim’s awful lyrics.

Mark and Maddy finally get around to kissing. But only after they find out they’re stuck “six clicks” away (I am assuming this means six miles. I do not understand army speak.) from Terra Nova and have to walk back on foot since their transportation isn’t working due to the power outage. They get stuck in a tree overnight and the romance of it prompts their first kiss. I don’t what it is but Mark is starting to resemble Taylor Lautner. Maybe it’s because I keep seeing new Breaking Dawn promos or that he gets more screen time so the resemblance is more prominent.

Meanwhile Sixers get wind of the power outage and Mira wants to get into the compound to get that box (remember the one they can’t open?) To distract Terra Nova, Sixers herd a dinosaur to the compound. And here’s the dinosaur of the week!

Taylor and Jim shoot really cool fire arrows to keep out the dinosaur. But they figure out it’s a distraction and rush to where the box is being kept only to find one of the Sixers removing it from their hiding area. Cue the awesome action sequence with Taylor and Jim kicking some Sixer ass! Jim runs off after his guy leaving Taylor to deal with the bigger Sixer.

“Let’s Dance.” Yeah Taylor says this to the Sixer he’s about to fight. He goes a round, but starts to lose steam. Boylan comes along to save the day with a old fashioned gun. Looks like Taylor owes a couple favors since Boylan is the one whose fixing some chipmaker so Terra Nova’s power can be restored.

Taylor is pissed about the loss of the box. He’s determined that the Sixer spy be found. I have no idea who it could be. I’m hoping it’s not Boylan, because that would be way too obvious.

Mira meets up with a mysterious stranger who opens the box. It turns out to be some kind of device. And the stranger is Lucas, Taylor’s son. Mira mentions she was sent through to the past to deliver this box. She warns Lucas that his Dad will come looking for the device. Obviously bitter, Lucas advises that Taylor will have to choose between blood or his “precious” Terra Nova. Looks like some juicy family drama is coming up!
