Controversial Scottish author Irvine Welsh is coming to Toronto in June to promote his latest book, a prequel to Trainspotting called Skagboys, and while in town he’ll be attending a special screening of the movie Ecstasy during the 2012 NXNE festival.
Based on Welsh’s novel Ecstasy: Three Tales of Chemical Romance, the film is described as a “twisted romantic-comedy” and stars Kristin Kreuk, Adam Sinclair, and Billy Boyd. It’s directed by Canadian filmmaker Rob Heydon and was shot in Sault Ste. Marie and Toronto, along with Scotland and Amsterdam. Welsh will be doing a Q&A at the June 14 event after the screening.
If you want to secure a seat to the screening, you can purchase a NXNE Priority Pass beginning today (January 16) at nxne.com/tickets. NXNE is still accepting submissions from filmmakers and musicians until January 30. For more info on the fest and to submit your film or band, visit nxne.com.
