This is a recap of the eleventh episode of Pan Am, entitled Diplomatic Relations. Spoilers ahead if you have not seen it!

Dean is sitting shirtless in a chair. As episodes go, this one starts off pretty nicely. After spending the night with Bridget, he is already regretting giving into his hormones and is not buying her story about being a spy for MI:6. I get the feeling that Bridget may not have left the British intelligence entirely. And I’m not just saying that cause I like Collette better. I swear.

Meanwhile, Maggie and the Senator are having breakfast after Maggie’s hormones distracted her from coming clean about her involvement with the article in the Village Voice. The Senator ends up reading it and is very curious about the anonymous source. Looks like Maggie changed her mind about confessing her involvement in the story.

Instead, Senator Rawlings invites Maggie to a fundraiser, which Ted and Amanda attend as well. Unfortunately, Maggie can’t keep let anyone have opinions that aren’t hers and calls one of the Senator’s biggest supporters an ‘ignorant buffoon’. Rawlings guesses that Maggie is the anonymous source, right before Ted proposes to Amanda in front of a room full of people. And oh yeah, Amanda gave Maggie a big smooch to console her after that. No big deal.

Pan Am is invited on a diplomatic trip to Russia (formerly the USSR) who has decided to open their borders to the West. Dean is joined in the cockpit by Broyles, whose known in the Pan Am world as a Sky God, meaning he can do whatever the hell he wants.  He usurps Dean’s Captain chair relegating him to co-pilot. The CIA wants Kate to check up on a double agent, Anastasia, whose gone silent.

When they arrive in Russia, the crew is told that no one can leave the hotel without a hospitality Ambassador accompanying them. Kate tries by wearing a handkerchief over her head. This his is suppose to hide her identity and make her blend in somehow. Unfortunately, she’s unable to get anywhere outside the hotel and is caught running around the basement. However, Broyles convinces KGB type goons she’s a prostitute. As an alternative, Kate convinces the woman in charge of site-seeing to let them visit the building where the double agent lives saying her grandfather lived there. When they arrive, KGB agents drag Laura and Bridget away accusing them of being spies. The rest of the girls are taken back to the hotel and they’re ordered to leave as soon as possible. Laura sneaks away in the confusion and forces her way into Anastasia’s apartment convincing her to use her influence on her boyfriend, who is high up on the Kremlin.

Kate rushes back in time to rejoin the Pan Am crew who are to leave immediately and are sent back to their plane. A really scary looking KGB agent demands to know why they’re not taking off and threatens to shoot. Dean invites him to shoot him and start an international incident. Whose the Sky God now!? However, Laura and Bridget are safely returned to the plane just in time and all’s well.

Except Dean didn’t want to lie to Collette so when she confronted him with one of his  cufflinks she found in Bridget’s suitcase he told her the truth and she walked away. And he didn’t chase after her or beg her forgiveness  I revoke your Sky God status Dean. You better make up for that next episode.
