When I first heard about Monster Brawl, a comedy-horror that pits classic monsters like The Mummy and Frankenstein against each other in a televised WWE-style fight in the ring, I was jumping for joy over it. This is an idea every geeky horror fan has dreamed about (myself included) and now someone has made it a reality? Awesome! Then I got to see it and I was completely blown away. This is an indie production that looks like a big budget Hollywood flick, and with a cast that includes Dave Foley and Art Hindle, it is an extremely fun film to watch. I immediately wanted to know more about writer-director Jesse T. Cook and what went into getting the film made. Thankfully, I was able to arrange a short interview with him during last year’s Toronto After Dark Film Festival and now that Monster Brawl is out on DVD and Blu-ray it’s the perfect time to share it. Watch our interview below.
