1. Zabriskie Point (Michelangelo Antonioni, 1970)

Shot on location in Death Valley at the eponymous Point, the most gob-smacking thing about Michelangelo Antonioni’s counter-culture audience-divider is its closing sequence of super slow-motion explosions. Destruction never looked so beautiful.
